Swiftwater Rescue Fundamentals June 18-19

This intro-level course meets for one 3-hour evening session and one full-day field session.

This course is an introduction to the skills and systems utilized during rescue operations during a swiftwater rescue.  Evening instruction will take place in a classroom followed by a day in the field with demonstrations and time to practice skills.  This course will focus on swiftwater awareness skills, personal safety in a moving water environment and an introduction to rescue specific skills. Prerequisites:

  • Basic river experience and swimming ability
  • Must be 18 years of age or older*
  • Must have adequate health insurance
  • Recommended (but not required): Wilderness First Aid or higher medical certification
